Galit is an award-winning writer, director and performer who pushes the boundaries of mulit-lingual theatre and music. She graduated with a Bachelor of Performing Arts from Monash University with a minor in Yiddish language in 2008. She has been involved both in Australia, Israel and the USA in theatre production, development and performance. Notable achievements include producing, writing and performing Joanne’s Real World, which won both Best Script and Best Actress at the Sydney Short and Sweet Festival and continued to tour to several Australian festivals; writing and performing cabarets with Alan Kogosowsi including Edith and Marlene and Liza and Judy (Victorian tours), and performing in the critically successful Mono-drama The White Door. Galit Klas founded the Kadimah Yiddish Theatre and was an Artistic Director for five years. For the KYT Galit created Fun Yener Zayt Lid (Play Me a Poem), The Ghetto Cabaret, The Cantor and Yentl. Galit believes in the equity of theatre for expression and has created and directed theatre groups in underserved communities both in Australia and overseas. When not creating shows Galit practises trapeze, tends to her chooks and reads.
